On Wednesday the 3rd of November the annual Brick Awards took place in London at the Marriot Grosvenor Square.
Known as one of the longest established and prestigious design awards in the UK, the Awards merit excellence in design and construction using brick. Annually, hundreds of entries are submitted with 15 trophies awarded to the best projects – two of which featured Michelmersh Brick Holdings’ bricks.
Frobisher House won the award for Best Housing Development – 1 to 5 units. Designed by Duggan Morris Architects – using selected Dark Facings from Freshfield Lane Brickworks – the judges liked “the straight-forward response to a tight urban space” (Brick Awards 2010).
Freshfield Lane Brickworks and Charnwood Forest featured in the winning category, ‘2010 Specialist Brickwork Contractor of the Year’, won by Irvine Whitlock for St Pancras Chambers and Cabot Circus, respectively.
