As a people-orientated organisation, Michelmersh is always happy to find ways to assist worthwhile causes when it is able; be that through our immensely popular Pledge 100 initiative, where each year we endeavour to donate over 100,000 products to bricklaying courses across the country, our staff selected quarterly donations, or the supply of educational content, such as our “Guide to successful brickwork”.
With the first 6 months of the year behind us, Michelmersh was able to donate materials and financial aid to seven fantastic charities. All of whom offer assets that are incredibly important and irreplaceable to those who utilise them.
Our staff selections for the first half of 2022 were Barnsley Hospice, Crash United and Hope into Action, the two latter of whom provide vital support to those facing, or suffering from homelessness.
Following on from that, the staff also nominated the Lighthouse Club which we were happy to donate financial aid. The Brickworks Museum, to which we donated some brick-quality clay, were able to further enrich children’s visits by helping them to create their own clay bricks.
15,000 additional clay bricks were provided by Michelmersh to the Hope Farm Community Garden in Kent, who ran “The Great British Brick Off” to revitalise and restore their Edwardian wall, creating a new community hub for marginalised groups to attend. Hope Farm Community Garden teaches people practical ways to conserve, protect and improve the natural environment.
Finally, we were able to donate 100kg of ground clay to Coal Aston Folk and Friends Well Dressing Group which used it to create a beautiful design to draw attention to their cause.
