Michelmersh Brick Holdings PLC (MBH) is pleased to announce the publication of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) across four of its leading UK brands (Carlton, Blockleys, Freshfield Lane and Michelmersh), marking a significant step forward in its commitment to transparency, accountability and continuous environmental improvement.
EPD documents are independently verified to international standards, they provide a comprehensive calculation of a product’s environmental impact. Michelmersh have assessed its products across their entire lifecycle, from raw material extraction through to manufacture, use and end-of-life.
The newly published EPDs are based on verified 2024 data, providing a robust and up-to-date benchmark for assessing the environmental impact of Michelmersh products. This ensures customers, specifiers and stakeholders have access to relevant, consistent data to support informed decision-making and more accurate carbon assessments. Sustainability sits at the core of Michelmersh’s values, with the Group committed to supporting the transition to a lower-carbon economy and delivering products that contribute positively to the built environment for generations to come.
This latest milestone is part of a wider programme of work to enhance environmental performance across the Group, with EPDs acting as both a benchmark and a catalyst for ongoing improvement.
“Publishing EPDs is an important step in ensuring that we are providing clear, consistent and independently verified environmental data for our products. It allows us to better understand our impacts and, crucially, to use that insight as a benchmark for continuous improvement across our manufacturing processes and product development.”
Paul Freeman, Technical Director
“Transparency is fundamental to meaningful progress. By developing EPDs across our brands, we are not only supporting our customers with reliable data but also strengthening our own ability to identify opportunities for further carbon reduction. This is about using data and insight to accelerate carbon reduction and drive positive change across the lifecycle of our products.”
Sarah Le Gresley, Innovation and Sustainability Director
“This is a natural progression in our sustainability journey. We have always believed in taking a long-term view, investing in our people, our processes and our products to deliver enduring value. The publication of these EPDs demonstrates our commitment to openness, continuous improvement and leadership within our sector.”
Ryan Mahoney, Chief Executive Officer
In addition, a range of projects are in development, supporting progress against our net zero decarbonisation roadmap. We will share more about our journey, as well as expand EPD coverage across its wider product portfolio over time supporting the construction industry’s move towards ongoing transparency.
