Project overview
The Stanmore Building of The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital was opened in 2018 and built to replace several buildings that had been in operation since the 1940s. Designed by BDP Architects it provides 119 single beds, multiple children and adult wards and a private patients unit.
Blockleys Synthesis S18 clads the 5 story structure and brilliantly shows off the mosaic aesthetic of the S18 blend. The building is rated BREEAM Excellent and was carefully decorated throughout with contemporary artwork to match the external facades and to help divert the occupant’s attention from pain and stress.
The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital is one of only five specialist orthopaedic centres in the UK.
