Project overview
Vine Court, a key part of Liverpool University’s long-term campus vision, sets a new benchmark for sustainable student living. Designed by Stride Treglown, the residences form the first phase of an ambitious plan to provide 3,500 student beds through a mix of refurbishment and new-build projects. Beyond student accommodation, the development was carefully reconfigured to meet Tourism England standards, offering high-quality conference facilities outside term time.
FabSpeed’s innovative steel lintels and Pro-Steel soffit bolt-up units played a vital role in shaping the building’s distinctive façade. Originally designed with precast brick-faced concrete lintels and extensive exposed soffit brickwork, the project demanded a more efficient alternative. FabSpeed’s lightweight, non-structural stainless steel components provided a cost-effective, high-performance solution, delivering the same striking architectural detail with enhanced ease of installation.
Sustainability was at the heart of the design, with the project achieving a BREEAM “Excellent” rating. Energy-efficient features such as LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, solar thermal hot water, and biodiverse green and brown roofs reinforce the University’s commitment to responsible development.
