MBH PLC are pleased to announce that it has been formally acknowledged by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for its ‘Right Brick First Time’ CPD seminar. The approval comes after stringent assessment by the UK’s national governing body for architects – to highlight the seminar’s conformity with RIBA guidelines. The result being that the UK’s largest producer of hand made and machine bricks and pavers are able to present this CPD to architects and construction professionals across the Country.
The seminar aims to help the specifier select the right clay products, for the environment they are working with, giving an understanding of the wide range of products at their disposal, all with varying applications. The hour long seminar presentation concisely explains the significant benefits of using clay, the design considerations required and an in-depth explanation of the many differences in bond patterns, use of specials, fenestration details, mortar specification and structural or climatic considerations which can all drastically alter the appearance, texture and desired effect of the designed façade.

By drawing on data from historical and current precedents the seminar hopes to educate architects and construction professionals with a further knowledge of bricks’ rich sustainability and durability characteristics. A wide range of product options are also showcased within the presentation, explaining that manufacturers offer an endless range of sizes and special shapes. The brick types also differ considerably from handmade to stock and onto machine moulded waterstrucks, with textures that offer rusticated, sandfaced, rolled and many other facing brick styles. A variety of case studies used in the presentation will feature MBH PLC products ranging from the renowned St Pancras Hotel at St Pancras Station in London to the recently heavily awarded and newly constructed ORTUS, Maudsley Learning Centre designed by Duggan Morris Architects.
