Michelmersh has received three key awards at the Ceramic Industry Health and Safety Pledge Conference held at the Moathouse Stoke on Trent.
The Ceramic Industry Health and Safety Pledge is a bold industry wide commitment to engage in a process of continuous improvement in health and safety.
2011 marked the 10th anniversary of the Pledge that brings together employers, unions and HSE in a truly collaborative effort. Key speakers included Frances Outram Board member of the HSE who also presented the awards.
Two Michelmersh staff received personal awards Danny Bryant from Freshfield Lane for most effective employee and Lee Taylor from Blockleys for health and safety leadership. The Charnwood site also received an award for major improvements in the control of silica exposure levels and this was presented to their Production Manager, Steven Bowns.
Peter Sharp Operations Director at Michelmersh attended the event and commented, “yet again this was a very enjoyable day with excellent speakers, but the highlight for me was the awards section. The Charnwood improvements speak for themselves but I was particularly pleased that two of our key team members received recognition for their outstanding commitment to health and safety.”
Peter Sharp added, “encouraged by their achievements, and supported by senior management, 2012 will see MBH staff aiming to build on last year’s success and continuing to uphold the Ceramic Pledge.”
